そして2015︎年12月5日、クラブMelkwegで行われた＜Die Hard Day＞に私はフォトグラファーとして参加をした。日本にこの音楽を伝えたいという想いを伝え、〈Thunderdome〉側にフォトグラファーとして用意して貰った貴重なパスである。このチャンスを掴めた事はフォトグラファーの私にとって大切な一歩であった。
On that fifth of December, I attended Die Hard Day as a photographer. When I explained my desire to share this music with Japan, I got my treasured press pass prepared by Thunderdome as a photographer. Being able to seize this opportunity meant taking an important step as a photographer.
会場入りすると、ふだんから広々としたスペースのMelkwegが特別に全5フロアを開放しており、いつもよりも遥かに巨大な空間が広がっていた。そこでは、新旧Hardcore DJたちが名を連ねるメインフロアの他に、「DJMag」が主催するコンテストを勝ち抜いた新鋭のDJ陣がプレイしているサブフロア、メインフロアの出入り口では「Gabberカット」に出来る特設美容院、〈Thunderdome〉のロゴを入れる事が出来るタトゥーブースがカフェエリアに設置されていたり……と内容が盛り沢山。また、会場には〈Thunderdome〉が過去にリリースをしたレコード／CD／カセット、またあらゆるデザインのTシャツ達が飾られており、歴史を感じることもできる素晴らしい展示会場になっていた。この空間に入り込んだことで、まだ私が知らなかった〈Thunderdome〉の魅力的な世界にどんどん吸い込まれていく気持ちになっていった。
When I set foot in the Melkweg, a total of 5 floors of the already large venue had been opened, and an area even more vast than usual stretched out before me. With a main floor that listed both new and old hardcore DJs and a sub-floor with a formation of DJs that had won a contest hosted by DJ Mag, a hair salon set up at the entrance to the main floor where you could get a “gabber cut” and a tattoo booth located at the cafe area where you could get a tattoo of the Thunderdome logo, activities were abundant. It was a glorious venue, decked with records, CDs and cassettes released by Thunderdome in the past, as well as T-shirts of various designs, allowing you to feel history. It felt like entering this space caused me to rapidly be sucked into the captivating and remote world of Thunderdome.
オープン直後、期待を膨らませた〈Thunderdome〉Loverのオーディエンス達が続々と会場に押し寄せる。一応に〈Thunderdome〉のロゴを携えた服を着て深い愛情を表現していた彼ら。到着するや否や「Hakken」という独自の踊りをおのおの楽しみはじめ、メインフロアを中心に会場は一層賑やかになっていった。
Shortly after its opening, an audience of anticipation-driven Thunderdome lovers successively flooded the venue. They were uniformly dressed in in clothes printed with the Thunderdome logo, conveying the depth of their love for the label. Immediately upon their arrival, they each began to indulge in the characteristic “hakken” dance, further arousing the main floor of an already bustling venue.
そしてオープンから1︎時間ほど経過し、遂にメインフロアが本格的にスタートした。ちなみに＜Die Hard Day＞のタイムテーブルは非公表で、私にも当日までDJ陣のラインナップが知らされていなかった。だが、当日撮影を行いながら明らかになっていく出演者の顔ぶれを見て、ディープなHardcoreヘッズになったのは言うまでも無い。なぜなら、伝説的なDJの出演から、現在のHardcoreを牽引するトップDJ達まで錚々たるラインナップだったからだ。
